Delmas Syrah 2021

SJR Vineyard | Walla Walla Valley

The 2021 vintage delivers high intensity and high concentration. Deeply, saturated purple with a savory, umami dominant bouquet: bacon fat, garrigue, olive tapenade, blackberry, minerals, and violets. The wine shows excellent balance between the high fruit intensity, elevated finely grained tannin structure, and vibrant acidity.

The palate is densely packed with fruit (blackberry, huckleberry) with significant notes of garrigue, allspice, licorice, black truffle, forest floor, smoked meats, and stony minerality.

The superbly long finish resonates richly with notes of Asian spices, bacon fat, garrigue, and lavender. Despite its rather powerful character the wine has remarkable harmony and finesse. The wine should reach a lovely phase of maturity in 8-10 years and should easily develop for 15+ years.
