The B | D | R represents an enduring commitment to a distinctively singular vineyard.

Brooke Delmas Robertson’s operational, hands-on, leadership in the rows of SJR Vineyard and in the cellar underscores the Family’s commitment to legacy.

Over fourteen vintages, The Rocks District’s world-class wine expression has been recognized through SJR Vineyard; showcasing aromatics and texture that can only be realized from vines planted in the volcanic deposits found within the boundaries of this appellation.

B | D | R expands the estate’s tool-box of options, for varying vintage conditions, via Blending. Beyond own-rooted Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah; SJR Vineyard will employ new clones of head-trained Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault on rootstocks in 2025. Also in the works…more Viognier on rootstock utilizing a different clone. And, new plantings of Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc will supplement a B | D | R – WHITE – Program.

B | D | R is the ultimate expression of SJR Vineyard, the Family’s commitment to legacy and PLACE.

EXCLUSIVE COOPERAGE

Beginning with the 2024 vintage, Delmas will dedicate exclusively designed demi-muid, 600 Liter barrels to our aging program; providing additional complexity notes given a specific mix of great French forests from the center of France and Vosges, with specific grain selections and two (2) different toasts incorporated in each barrel. Thick staves’ steady temperature control, furthering the aging process.

This barrel is exclusive to Delmas in the United States… and is designed to showcase SJR Vineyards’ singular expression and complexity notes.

2022 B | D | R

The 2022 B | D | R is saturated purple with a savory, umami dominant bouquet: bacon fat, garrigue, olive tapenade, blackberry, minerals, and violets. The palate is densely packed with fruit (blackberry, huckleberry) with significant notes of garrigue, allspice, licorice, black truffle, forest floor, smoked meats, and stony minerality. A superbly long finish resonates richly with notes of Asian spices, bacon fat, garrigue, and lavender.
